Manager John Farrell said that Smith (forearm) is scheduled to pitch his first bullpen session Sunday, Scott Lauber of ESPN reports.
Smith progressed to the long toss portion of his rehab process Wednesday, and it appears that it went well enough that he can move on to the next step this coming weekend. The right-hander still has no timetable for a return, but things could become a bit clearer following the conclusion of his bullpen session.
