Ryan was traded to the Angels on Tuesday, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports.
The Angels were in need of infield help after it was determined Andrelton Simmons will need to go under the knife for thumb surgery, so Ryan will be able to fill that role. The 34-year-old is primarily known for his defense, but he was hitting a decent .263 at the Triple-A level this season before the trade. Cliff Pennington figures to continue receiving the majority of the starts at shortstop in Simmons' absence, but Ryan could rotate in there occasionally.
