2019 Fantasy Baseball Draft Prep: 15-team Rotisserie mock for the NFBC crowd

The 15-team format is becoming more common in high-stakes games like NFBC. so Scott White and Co. decided to mock for it.

Generally speaking, we draft for 12 teams. That's the CBS Sports standard, and that's who we are: CBS Sports. But there is another league size gaining traction in the Rotisserie-playing world, in part because of the success of NFBC and other high-stakes contests, and that's of course the 15-team league.

It changes your perception of what's a good pick, what's a good player and what's a good roster. It's a little like an AL- or NL-only league in that there comes a point when anyone who has a regular job has some value. That's particularly true in this age of specialization where platoons are common among hitters and early hooks among pitchers. And with every lineup having 14 hitter spots to fill, at-bats especially are in short supply.

This specific 15-team draft took place on the same day word broke that Manny Machado would sign with the Padres, and his value may have slipped a little because of it. His ADP, according to FantasyPros, is 11th, and he went 13th in our previous 12-team Rotisserie mock a couple weeks ago. That entire range of picks is still a reasonable point for him to be drafted. San Diego doesn't offer a venue as friendly as Philadelphia or Chicago would have, but it's not on the opposite extreme anymore either. His slide may have had just as much to do with shortstop being a deeper position this year (it's why I passed him over for Bryce Harper at 16).

There wasn't much impact from the Mike Moustakas signing, though, despite his potential to interfere with the rest of the Brewers infield. Moustakas himself went 156th overall, down slightly from his 148 ADP. At 74th overall, Travis Shaw actually went much earlier than his 91 ADP, possibly because his dual eligibility is more useful in a league of this size. Jesus Aguilar went 115th overall, down from his usual 80th, but he's the least likely to be impacted of the three.
