Tyrell Crosby: Career in jeopardy
Crosby (back) recently said that multiple doctors have advised him against continuing his playing career, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Crosby underwent spinal fusion surgery last December and has not lifted weights in nearly a year. While the 26-year-old has shown enough promise to be a swing tackle or some sort of quality backup along the offensive line, the odds seem against Crosby making a return to the NFL stage at this point.

Crosby has managed to return to practice ahead of the Aug. 13 preseason opener against Buffalo, but given the tricky nature of hamstring injuries, the Lions could still opt to manage his reps. The 2018 fifth-round pick looks bound for a key backup spot at swing tackle, though he's also worked as a guard during camp.

In addition to working as a swing tackle, Crosby has always been getting some reps at guard. He's looking like the top backup on Detroit's offensive line and will try to work his way into a starting role once he heals up.
