Last season Vanderbilt took a big step forward with their football program, finishing the season 6-7 but with an appearance in the Liberty Bowl, the school's first bowl game since 2008. No doubt coach James Franklin was pleased with getting a team that had won only four games combined in the previous two seasons to the postseason, but Franklin has loftier goals in mind for his program.

Now, while winning on the field is one important step to achieving those goals, there is another much more important step that any program needs to take: getting new uniforms.

Vanderbilt debuted the new uniforms at a Barnes & Noble on Wednesday, and I have to say that Vanderbilt showing off its new uniforms inside a bookstore is probably the most Vanderbilt thing of all time.

As for the uniforms themselves, the school now has 40 different combinations it can use for any given game at its disposal, and James Franklin said the uniforms gave his team "a simple, but sexy look."

I don't know if I'm going to call football uniforms sexy, but I like what I see. Personally, more than the uniforms themselves, I'm a big fan of the white helmet.
