Virginia Tech's second-leading receiver was arrested and charged with public intoxication and swearing early Sunday morning, the Roanoke Times reported.
Rising sophomore tight end Bucky Hodges was booked on the misdemeanor charge and released, police told the Times. Per police, the 19-year-old Hodges was arrested at approximately 12:30 a.m. Sunday in an apartment complex parking lot.
A Virginia Tech spokesperson told the Times the school is aware of the situation and "will abide by the letter and spirit" of institutional policy in deciding on a response.
Hodges earned third-team All-ACC honors as a redshirt freshman, catching 45 passes for 526 yards and seven touchdowns -- numbers that likely would have earned him first team honors if he hadn't shared a conference with All-American candidates Nick O'Leary and Clive Walford. Hodges now owns the Hokies school record for tight ends in all three statistics.
A Hodges suspension of any length would be a blow for the Hokies offense; their 2015 opener comes against defending national champion Ohio State.
