Michigan star linebacker Jabrill Peppers, who the Wolverines use all over the field in all three phases of the game, will not play in Friday night's Orange Bowl against Florida State, according to the program's radio network. The ESPN broadcast later confirmed Peppers' injury right before kickoff.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Peppers took the field with Michigan's specialists an "hour before the game and was catching punts, but looked tentative in warmups."

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed after the 33-32 loss to the Seminoles that Peppers hurt his hamstring on Thursday.

"Jabrill had his hamstring grab on him yesterday. He was jumping for a ball and was very unfortunate he wasn't able to ... you could see it on the film yesterday," Harbaugh said. "Couldn't get to where he could run and be effective out there. So he didn't play. He tried to warm it up to see if he could go, gave it a good effort and wasn't able to."

The junior linebacker finished fifth in Heisman Trophy voting this year and made the trip to New York for the finalist ceremony.

Peppers, a do-it-all weapon for the Wolverines, finished second on the team with 71 tackles. He was also used heavily in the return game and returned a punt for a touchdown. Peppers was used more sparingly used on offense running the ball.
