As we pass the midway point of the 2017 season, business -- as they say -- is about to pick up. The slate of games on Saturday may not be tremendous all day long, but a pair of top 25 matchups in the evening will certainly make headlines across the world of sports. That's all assuming there are a rash of upsets in the early part of the schedule, which is certainly possible considering some of the showdowns we have ahead of us.

CBS Sports will be with you the entire way updating this story with the latest news, best highlights and expert analysis throughout the day's games. This page does not automatically refresh, so please click here to do so.

Notre Dame cruises against USC

Did anyone expect No. 13 Notre Dame to have it so easy against the Trojans? Because the Fighting Irish pushed the easy button Saturday night in South Bend.

Josh Adams ran for 190 yards and three touchdowns, quarterback Brandon Wimbush added 106 rushing yards and two scores of his own and the Irish destroyed No 11 USC 49-14. Here's Adams' 84-yarder that distanced the Irish from the Trojans in the third quarter.

Notre Dame could be come an interesting team in the playoff conversation with so many quality games ahead.

Derrius Guice sets record in win over Ole Miss

LSU junior running back Derrius Guice ran his way into the record book on Saturday night in the Tigers' 40-24 win at Ole Miss. He carried the ball 22 times for 276 yards and one touchdown, becoming the first player in SEC history to rush for 250 or more yards in three different games in his career.

His previous two 250-yard games came last year, when he went for 252 against Arkansas and 285 in the regular season finale against Texas A&M.

Think about that for a second -- Bo Jackson, Herschel Walker, Darren McFadden -- none of them have done what Guice has done during his three-year career in Baton Rouge.

Auburn keeps foot on the gas in win over Arkansas

Remember last week when Auburn blew a 20-point lead at LSU? Coach Gus Malzahn surely did, because he made sure that the same thing didn't happen Saturday night against Arkansas -- a team he played for and spent one year (2006) working for as Houston Nutt's offensive coordinator.

Kamryn Pettway ran for 90 yards and three touchdowns, Kerryon Johnson added 63 more, quarterback Jarrett Stidham threw for 218 yards in the win.

To punctuate things -- and make sure the lead got too big to blow -- Malzahn even threw in a reverse pass from wide receiver Ryan Davis to fellow receiver Darius Slayton that went for 62 yards to push Auburn's lead to 38-6 late in the third quarter.

Oklahoma comes back to edge Kansas State

Oklahoma was in some trouble early -- down 21-10 at the half to Kansas State -- but roared back in the second half for the 42-35 win. The Sooners overcame plenty of mistakes and head-scratching calls by coach Lincoln Riley to survive and advance on the road. Running back Rodney Anderson finally had a breakout performance after being sidelined by injuries in each of the past two seasons with 147 yards and the go-ahead score with just seconds remaining in the game. It wasn't Oklahoma's cleanest game, but they'll gladly take the victory and move on at 6-1 and still in the Big 12 title hunt.

Miami still undefeated after scare from Syracuse

Travis Homer broke free for a 33-yard touchdown run with 2:48 left to play in a one-point game to give Miami a 27-19 lead that it would hold for its sixth win of the season. After a horrible start that included three of Eric Dungey's four interceptions and losing star wide receiver Steve Ishmael to injury, Syracuse fought its way back into the game with defensive stops and some hard running from Dungey and Dontae Strickland (205 yards combined). Miami not only got stops that led to field goals instead of touchdowns at the end of those drives, but Malik Rosier (344 passing yards, two touchdowns) had a response to nearly every Orange score.

Bucknell posts best overtime win of the day

The Bison had not one, but two pick-sixes in a 13-7 overtime win over Lafayette. In fact, Bucknell got the walk-off win on a 95-yard pick-six by Colin Jonov. The Bison had zero offensive scores on the day and the two teams combined for 394 yards on the day. This game deserves to be enshrined forever.

Michigan State wins low-scoring battle with Indiana

The Hoosiers are always going to play tough, and Michigan State found that out firsthand in a 17-9 win. LJ Scott had 87 yards on 22 carries and the game-sealing touchdown with less than two minutes to go. It wasn't the strongest effort from Michigan State, but a win is a win, especially against a team that's playing strong like the Hoosiers.

Louisville skates past Florida State on a last-second field goal

Louisville survived a furious comeback by Florida State and kicked a go-ahead field goal with only seconds remaining to beat the Seminoles 31-28. Lamar Jackson was his usual self with 334 yards and two touchdowns, leading the final drive following a James Blackman fumble for Florida State. The good news for Florida State is the offense was able to generate enough points to stay with the Cardinals. Long term, though, Florida State could struggle to make a bowl game if it has to get into higher-scoring games. The Seminoles are now 0-3 at home to start the season for the first time since 1974.

Iowa State is a surprise team in the Big 12 title race

One of the surprising scores from the early games was Iowa State's 31-13 win at Texas Tech, highlighted by this one-handed pick-six by the Cyclones' Marcel Spears' Jr. Iowa State is now 5-2 and 3-1 in Big 12 play. That's the Cyclones' best start since 2002. ISU has a brutal schedule the rest of the way, however. It starts in Week 9 against TCU and follows up with games against West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Baylor and ends with Kansas State. No game -- not even Baylor -- is a guaranteed W. Still, Iowa State is on track for a bowl appearance and Matt Campbell is emerging as one of the biggest coaching names in the game.

#BrohmsAway alert in Piscataway

Say this for Purdue coach Jeff Brohm: He's arguably the most entertaining play caller in college football. Though the Boilermakers fell to Rutgers 14-12, this fake flea-flicker by running back D.J. Knox went for a huge 41-yard gain that eventually put the offense on the board. However, that was about the best offense Purdue executed all day in a loss to Rutgers.
