In an ironic twist of fate, newly minted Georgetown head coach Patrick Ewing will not be able to retain his son on his coaching staff due to a nepotism clause. Patrick Ewing, Jr., who played for the Hoyas in the early 2000s, was a part of John Thompson III’s coaching staff and served as the director of basketball operations.
Patrick Ewing tells @JunksRadio that Georgetown has a nepotism clause and his son won't be allowed to stay on his staff

Ewing has been an assistant coach for more than a decade in the NBA, most recently with the Charlotte Hornets as an Associate Head Coach on Steve Clifford’s staff.
The nepotism clause is ironic, to say the least. Since 1972, the Georgetown coach has been named John Thompson or had a close relationship with the legendary coach. Ewing, of course, is replacing John Thompson III, John Thompson’s son. John Thompson III went 278-151 from 2004 until his firing after this season.
When hosts on the sports talk show Junks Radio said they’d lobby for a rule change, Ewing encouraged it by saying, “Please do.”
