Former NBA All-Star and 2006 Pac-10 Player of the Year Brandon Roy reportedly was shot in the leg over the weekend but is expected to make a full recovery.
Roy played professionally for the Trail Blazers, who starred in college at the University of Washington.
The franchise released the following statement early Wednesday.
"Like many others, we're just learning of the injury suffered by former Trail Blazers player Brandon Roy in a shooting over the weekend in California," the statement read. "According to those reports, Brandon was wounded as a bystander but is expected to recover. Our thoughts and prayers are with Brandon and his family."
Roy, a three-time All-Star and the 2007 NBA Rookie of the Year, is now the coach at Nathan Hale High in Seattle -- where he coached Michael Porter Jr., who is the top-ranked player in the Class of 2017. Porter Jr. is committed to Missouri and will play for the Tigers next season.
