A fight many didn’t think would happen is finally upon us. Gennady Golovkin is set to defend his unified middleweight titles against secondary belt holder Daniel Jacobs on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden.
While Golovkin (33-0, 31 KOs) is an overwhelming favorite to retain his titles, he knows that Jacobs (32-1, 29 KOs) presents one of the toughest tests he’s faced in the ring. “I have been watching his fights and Jacobs looks good,” Golovkin said “He is strong and very tough. I think he is the best opponent of my career.”
It all gets started at 7 p.m. ET with the HBO pay-per-view main card beginning at 9 p.m. ET. It begins with two undercard bouts prior to Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez stepping into the ring to defend his WBC junior bantamweight title before GGG and Jacobs hit the main stage after 11:30 p.m. ET.
