The Premier League title race will officially go down to the final day after both Manchester City and Arsenal picked up wins over the weekend, with only one point separating the two sides.

Arsenal's 1-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday means they are back atop the standings, while City's 4-0 win over Fulham on Saturday kept them in the hunt for their fourth successive title. A lot of importance has been assigned to City's trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday, when they finally make up their game in hand and have a chance to finally take top position with a win. The odds still favor the reigning champions, while Liverpool are now out of the running after a recent string of poor results and seem destined to finish third.

With not long to go, here's a ranking of each team's remaining schedule by easiest to hardest.

Remaining schedule

  • April 3: Arsenal 2, Luton Town 0
  • April 6: Brighton and Hove Albion 0, Arsenal 3
  • April 13: Arsenal 0, Aston Villa 2
  • April 20: Wolverhampton Wanderers 0, Arsenal 2
  • April 23: Arsenal 5, Chelsea 0
  • April 28: Tottenham Hotspur 2, Arsenal 3
  • May 4: Arsenal 3, Bournemouth 0
  • May 11: Manchester United 0, Arsenal 1
  • May 19, 11 a.m.: Everton (home)

They boasted the harder schedule than City for much of the last month, but with a week left to go, Arsenal are the ones with one of the easier teams left. Everton seem destined to avoid relegation -- barring yet another points deduction -- and my have little to play for on Sunday. They are the odds-on favorites to finish the season with a win, but even with one, their fate very much lies with City's results.

Remaining schedule
All times Eastern/U.S.

  • April 3: Manchester City 4, Aston Villa 1
  • April 6: Crystal Palace 2, Manchester City 4
  • April 13: Manchester City 5, Luton Town 1
  • April 25: Brighton and Hove Albion 0, Manchester City 4
  • April 28: Nottingham Forest 0, Manchester City 2
  • May 4: Manchester City 5, Wolverhampton Wanderers 1
  • May 11: Fulham 0, Manchester City 4
  • May 14, 3 p.m.: Tottenham Hotspur (away)
  • May 19, 11 a.m.: West Ham (home)

City have cruised through the final stretch of the season, scoring at least four goals in all but one of their last seven games. As a result, they are the obvious favorites in both of their remaining matches against Spurs and West Ham. While the West Ham game might be particularly uncomplicated since the outgoing David Moyes is now overseeing a lame-duck session as he ends his five-year spell in East London, a win over an inconsistent Tottenham is not a foregone conclusion. Spurs' only wins in their last six are over relegation-threatened teams but City have yet to score a goal at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which opened in 2019. There's a version of events in which the reigning champions lift the trophy even without the best day in North London, but if they overcome that obstacle, that might be the most encouraging sign yet that they can win the whole thing.
