  • Bears' Montez Sweat: Slated to play Sunday

Sweat (elbow) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Colts and is expected to play. Sweat was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday but was upgraded to full Friday and is set to go versus Indy. The 28-year-old is still looking for his first sack of the season after totaling a career-best 12.5 of them with the Commanders and Bears last season.

  • Bears' Montez Sweat: Limited Wednesday

Sweat (elbow) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice. Chicago's star edge rusher now appears to be dealing with an elbow injury after playing through a toe issue in the Bears' Week 2 loss. Sweat's practice participation Thursday and Friday will likely provide a better indication of his availability for the Bears' Week 3 matchup with the Colts.

  • Bears' Amen Ogbongbemiga: Out of concussion protocol

Ogbongbemiga (concussion) was left off the Bears' injury report Wednesday. Ogbongbemiga was thought to have sustained a concussion during the Bears' Week 2 loss to the Texans, but following Wednesday's injury report, it appears he's passed protocol. Expect the Oklahoma State product to remain one of Chicago's top rotational outside linebackers as the season progresses.

  • Dashaun Mallory: Joins Chicago's practice squad

The Bears signed Mallory to their practice squad Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Mallory failed to make the Bears' initial 53-man roster in late August, but he'll now have a chance to get their via elevation. The Arizona State product linked up with Chicago after going undrafted this past offseason. He recorded 48 total tackles, including 2.0 sacks and eight additional tackles for loss, across 12 games during his final collegiate season.

  • Bears' Zacch Pickens: Doesn't practice Wednesday

Head coach Matt Eberflus told reporters that Pickens (groin) won't practice Wednesday, Chris Emma of 670TheScore.com reports. Pickens sustained a groin injury during the Bears' Week 2 loss, so it's no surprise that the 24-year-old will be held out of Wednesday's practice. His participation in practice both Thursday and Friday will provide a greater indication of his Week 3 availability.

  • Bears' Gervon Dexter: Another sack in defeat

Dexter recorded a sack as his only tackle in the Bears' 19-13 loss to the Texans on Sunday. The defensive tackle now has a sack in each of Chicago's two games and five total stops in that span. As an interior lineman, the tackle numbers may not be high on a weekly basis, so Dexter's ability to rush the passer could be his best path to IDP success.

  • Bears' Jack Sanborn: Notches sack

Sanborn posted two tackles (one solo), including a sack, in the Bears' 19-13 loss to the Texans on Sunday. With the Bears often playing with two linebackers on the field, Sanborn is often the odd man out. In this game, he played just 18 percent of the snaps, and Sanborn now has just two tackles on the season. The lack of playing time makes him difficult to count on in IDP leagues.

  • Bears' Kevin Byard: Big game in defeat

Byard tallied 11 tackles (seven solo) in the Bears' 19-13 loss to the Texans on Sunday. Byard tied Tremaine Edmunds for the team lead in tackles against Houston. Over the last four seasons, Byard has posted at least 100 tackles, and this performance puts the safety on pace for that level of production after he recorded just two stops in the season opener.

  • Bears' Tremaine Edmunds: Big tackle numbers

Edmunds recorded 11 tackles (eight solo), including a sack, in the Bears' 19-13 loss to the Texans on Sunday. After an uncharacteristically low tackle total (four) in Week 1, Edmunds came roaring back against the Texans. In 2023, the linebacker posted 113 tackles in 15 regular-season games, and the 11 tackles Edmunds tallied this week put him back on track as a strong weekly IDP option.

  • Bears' Zacch Pickens: Questionable to return

Pickens (groin) is questionable to return to Sunday's contest against the Texans. Pickens appears to have picked up a groin injury against Houston and his status for the rest of the game is now up in the air. In his absence, Chris Williams could see an increase in his workload at defensive tackle.

  • Bears' Amen Ogbongbemiga: Being evaluated for concussion

Ogbongbemiga is being evaluated for a concussion in Sunday's contest with the Texans. Ogbongbemiga appears to have suffered a blow to the head, and his return to the game is now in question. The linebacker operates primarily as a special-teams option, so his absence shouldn't have a major impact on Chicago's defense.

  • Bears' DeMarcus Walker: Ready to go Sunday

Walker (groin) is active for Sunday's matchup with the Texans. Walker has been battling a groin injury over the last couple weeks, but he'll be able to play through it for the second consecutive game. The defensive end recorded a solo tackle in Week 1 versus the Titans and he'll be back in his starting role on Chicago's defensive line.

  • Bears' Zacch Pickens: Full practice participant Thursday

Pickens (groin) practiced in full Thursday. Pickens was held out of the Bears' Week 1 win over the Titans due to a groin injury. He started this week as a limited participant Wednesday, but his full participation Thursday bodes well for his chances of playing against the Texans on Sunday. The 2023 third-round pick appeared in all 17 regular-season games for the Bears last year, and he finished with 20 tackles (nine solo), including 0.5 sacks, one pass defended and one forced fumble.

  • Bears' Gervon Dexter: Collects sack in opener

Dexter recorded four tackles and a sack in the Bears' 24-17 win over the Titans on Sunday. After posting 20 tackles and two sacks as a rookie last year, Dexter had an excellent start to the 2024 season. With the Bears potentially having an improved defense this year, Dexter could be in line to build on his solid Week 1. In IDP leagues that use the defensive tackle position, Dexter could be worth a speculative waiver add.

  • Bears' Darrell Taylor: Strong Chicago debut

Taylor posted eight tackles and two sacks in the Bears' 24-17 win over the Titans on Sunday. Taylor recorded two of the three sacks Chicago tallied in the season opener. After acquiring Montez Sweat last year, the Bears are hoping that Taylor can build on the success he showed back in 2022, when he recorded 9.5 sacks while playing 16 games with Seattle. If Taylor is on waivers in IDP leagues, he may be worth a claim after his dominant performance.

  • Bears' Jaquan Brisker: Big performance in Week 1

Brisker collected 10 tackles in the Bears' 24-17 win over the Titans on Sunday. Brisker averaged seven tackles per game in each of his first two year with the Bears, so his Week 1 performance demonstrates an upside performance based on his career norms. In an emerging Chicago defense, Brisker could be in line to increase his 2022-2023 production, which could make him an elite IDP.

  • Bears' Jaylon Johnson: Picks off pass

Johnson recorded three tackles and an interception in the Bears' 24-17 win over the Titans on Sunday. After posting a career-high four interceptions in 2023, Johnson started out the new season on a high note. Also, Johnson averaged 2.57 tackles last year, so his tackle production in this game was in line with previous levels. Based on his moderate tackle totals, Johnson is often reliant upon interceptions to have strong fantasy performances.

  • Bears' T.J. Edwards: Huge performance in opener

Edwards tallied 15 stops in the Bears' 24-17 win over the Titans on Sunday. After averaging 157 tackles over the past two years, Edwards tied his second-best performance since joining the Bears in 2023. The linebacker has an excellent chance to post double-digit tackles in the majority of his games after reaching that level eight times last season. Edwards is considered an elite IDP option.

  • Bears' Tyrique Stevenson: Pick-six in victory

Stevenson recorded four tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown in the Bears' 24-17 win over the Titans on Sunday. Stevenson had an impressive rookie season in 2023 with 86 tackles and four interceptions. The cornerback could not have had a better start in 2024, as he helped lead the Bears to a victory in a game in which their offense struggled. Stevenson has the potential to be a strong weekly IDP at cornerback.

  • Bears' Darrell Taylor: Ready for Week 1

Taylor (foot) is active for Sunday's game against the Titans. The backup defensive end missed Friday's practice and was listed as questionable. Taylor was traded to the Bears in August from the Seahawks for a sixth-round pick. A 2020 second-round pick of Seattle, the 27-year-old recorded 91 tackles (67 solo), 21.5 sacks and six forced fumbles in three seasons with the Seahawks.
