It has been 30 years since Arkansas Razorbacks basketball celebrated its only national championship, but title expectations are back in Fayetteville after the hiring of John Calipari. The Hall of Fame coach departed his post at Kentucky after 15 seasons, but Coach Cal has his work cut out for him after inheriting a team with a complete roster turnover. Arkansas basketball has been among the most active teams with the college basketball portal, and 247Sports ranks their committed transfer class as No. 1 in the nation for 2024. Calipari also landed the No. 6 incoming Class of 2024, turning in a dominant group of Arkansas basketball recruits.

Altogether, the Arkansas basketball roster boasts the third-ranked Class of 2024, per 247Sports, with several top recruits and transfers still uncommitted. That one national championship banner at Bud Walton Arena is a bit lonely, so can Calipari build an Arkansas basketball team capable of hoisting another? Arkansas basketball roster departures

Trevon Brazile, a 6-foot-9 forward, was a preseason All-SEC selection last season but had a disappointing redshirt sophomore season and averaged 8.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game after returning from an ACL injury in December 2022 that ended his true sophomore year. But Brazile decided to sign an agent and declare for the 2024 NBA Draft, so Arkansas fans won't have the opportunity to see a bounceback junior year from him. Brazile announced his decision to enter the draft around the same time Calipari was signing with Arkansas as he still wanted to go pro.

The entire Arkansas roster from last season either entered the transfer portal or declared for the NBA Draft. That's not entirely a surprise as a coach like Calipari will target the type of player he wants from high schools and the transfer portal. He already flipped multiple of his freshman signees from Kentucky to Arkansas as there will be no shortage of potential NBA talent on the floor in Arkansas despite Brazile's decision to enter the 2024 NBA Draft. Join HawgSports to see the latest on all of Arkansas' roster changes

Arkansas basketball news, roster

Calipari didn't just take his talents from Lexington to Fayetteville, as he took some of Kentucky's roster and top prospects with him. The latest former Wildcat to join Arkansas via the college basketball transfer portal was Adou Thiero on Monday. He was the No. 20 combo guard in the Class of 2022 rankings and averaged 7.2 points with 5 rebounds and 1.1 blocks last season with UK. Thiero is the fifth former Wildcat player or recruit to head to Arkansas, joining incoming freshmen Boogie Fland, Karter Knox and Billy Richmond, along with Croatian center Zvonimir Ivisic, who averaged 5.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks as a freshman with Kentucky.

They add to a pair of transfers from other programs in Johnell Davis, formerly of FAU, and Jonas Aidoo, who comes over from Tennessee. Davis was ranked as the No. 3 overall player in the transfer portal after helping power the Owls to a Final Four in 2023 in which he became the first player in NCAA Tournament history to tally 25 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and five steals in a game. He followed that up by being named AAC co-Player of the Year in 2023-24, while Aidoo made All-SEC second-team last season. The former Vol ranked in the top four of the conference in both rebounds per game (7.3) and blocks per game (1.8) as he provides familiarity with the SEC for a team composed entirely of new players. Join HawgSports to get the latest on all of Arkansas' roster additions
