  • Seahawks' Cameron Young: Set to miss start of 2024

Young (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve/PUP list by the Seahawks on Tuesday, John Boyle of the team's official website reports.

Young is dealing with an undisclosed injury, which forced him to miss the preseason, and he'll now be sidelined for at least the first four games of the 2024 season while on the PUP list. The earliest Young can return is Week 5 against the Giants on Oct. 6.

  • Seahawks' Cameron Young: Starts camp on PUP list

The Seahawks placed Young (undisclosed) on the active/PUP list Thursday, John Boyle of the team's official website reports.

Young was a fourth-round pick out of Mississippi State last year and played in 16 games as a rookie, making one start. Across 205 defensive snaps and another 86 on special teams, Young recorded 18 tackles (10 solo) and one tackle for loss. The nature of his injury is unclear at this time, but Young is eligible to be activated at any time this summer.

  • Seahawks' Cameron Young: Notches 18 tackles as rookie

Young posted 18 tackles (10 solo) and a pass breakup across 16 games during the 2023 regular season.

A fourth-round rookie, Young didn't play much behind Jarran Reed (knee), who posted 54 tackles and seven sacks. Reed is expected to stick around in 2024, so Young would need to show vast improvement to supplant the veteran nose tackle.

  • Seahawks' Cameron Young: Brings run-stopping to Seattle

The Seahawks selected Young in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 123rd overall.

Young (6-foot-3, 304) has an average frame by defensive tackle standards, and he didn't make plays behind the line of scrimmage at Mississippi State, but he did tie up blockers while doing a good job of crowding ballcarriers (88 tackles in final two seasons). Young's poor athletic testing indicates he's unlikely to emerge as an IDP factor in the NFL, but his run-stopping skill set and plus reach (34 and 1/2-inch arms) could make Young valuable to the Seahawks' linebackers.
