Skinner stopped 14 of 15 shots in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Canucks in Game 6. Skinner was benched for the previous two games, but he was back between the pipes with the Oilers' season on the line. The Canucks came out flat, leaving Skinner with little work to do as he snagged the win and forced Game 7. The 25-year-old is 6-3 in the playoffs, but he's given up three or more goals in six of his appearances. Securing the win Saturday makes it likely he'll start in the win-or-go-home contest Monday in Vancouver.... See More ... See Less

Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Back in net
Skinner will guard the home crease in Game 6 against Vancouver on Saturday, Gene Principe of Sportsnet reports. Skinner ceded the crease to Calvin Pickard in Edmonton's last two contests after struggling to a .793 save percentage in the first three games of the series. With the Oilers now down 3-2, they'll turn back to Skinner as they look to force a Game 7. The 25-year-old netminder is 5-3-0 overall in the postseason with an .877 save percentage and 3.22 GAA.... Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Pulled from Sunday's loss
Skinner allowed four goals on 15 shots in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Canucks in Game 3. Skinner played the first two periods and saw a little more ice time late in the third after some gamesmanship from head coach Kris Knoblauch. Skinner's play remains a serious concern -- the Canucks have fired 58 shots at him over three contests, but he's let in 12 goals while losing two of those games. The Oilers were able to cover the 25-year-old in the first round, but they've had less success in that regard against the Canucks. Per Daniel Nugent-Bowman of The Athletic, Knoblauch wouldn't commit to sticking with Skinner for Game 4 on Tuesday. Calvin Pickard made three saves in Sunday's contest, but veteran Jack Campbell could also be an option should the Oilers get desperate in the next week.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Wins Game 2 in overtime
Skinner stopped 16 of 19 shots in Friday's 4-3 overtime win over the Canucks in Game 2. Skinner had another poor outing, but the Oilers' dynamic duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl made up for it with four points each. Over the last three games, Skinner has allowed 11 goals on 64 shots, but he's managed to win two of those contests. The Oilers managed to break the Canucks' home-ice advantage -- the series is tied at 1-1 heading back to Edmonton for Game 3 on Sunday and Game 4 on Tuesday.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Tending twine Friday
Skinner will get the starting nod for Game 2 in Vancouver on Friday, Oilers play-by-by announcer Jack Michaels reports. Skinner has been shaky this postseason and was rocked for five goals on just 24 shots in a loss to the Canucks in Game 1 on Wednesday. Through six playoff games, he's registered an .893 save percentage and a 3.01 GAA. On the bright side, Skinner hasn't taken consecutive losses since Feb. 21 and 24.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Stumbles late in Game 1
Skinner allowed five goals on 24 shots in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Canucks in Game 1. Skinner held Vancouver to one goal through most of the first two periods before Elias Lindholm cut the lead to 4-2 late in the second. Skinner then allowed three more tallies in the third in the eventual one-goal defeat. The 25-year-old Skinner has been shaky at times this postseason -- he's posted an .893 save percentage through his first six playoff games. Nonetheless, Skinner will likely remain between the pipes for the Oilers in Game 2 on Friday.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Set to start Wednesday
Skinner is expected to guard the road goal in Game 1 against Vancouver on Wednesday, per Thomas Drance of The Athletic. Skinner earned a respectable 2.59 GAA and .910 save percentage in five first-round contests versus LA. However, he might have a difficult time against the Canucks after posting a record of 0-3-0 with a 4.60 GAA and an .830 save percentage across four regular-season appearances versus Vancouver. It wouldn't be surprising to see Skinner challenged regularly by the Canucks, but the Oilers have averaged 4.40 goals per game in the postseason, so they're capable of putting themselves in a position to win even when their goaltending isn't the best.... Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Set to face Kings
Skinner is expected to start at home against LA in Game 5 on Wednesday, per Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton. Skinner earned a 33-save shutout over the Kings in Game 4 on Sunday, and he's stopped 60 of 61 shots (.984 save percentage) over his last two starts. That gives him a 3-1 record, 2.48 GAA and .919 save percentage in four playoff contests this year. The 25-year-old was streaky in the regular season, finishing with a 36-16-5 record, 2.62 GAA and .905 save percentage in 59 appearances, but Skinner seems to be on a roll with a chance to eliminate the Kings up for grabs.... Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Back in net Sunday
Skinner will guard the road cage Sunday in Game 4 against the Kings, Oilers play-by-by announcer Jack Michaels reports. Skinner is coming off a 27-save performance in a 6-1 win over the Kings in Game 3 as the Oilers took a 2-1 series lead. The 25-year-old netminder has an .890 save percentage through the first three games in the postseason.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Steady in Game 3 win
Skinner stopped 27 of 28 shots in Friday's 6-1 win over the Kings in Game 3. Skinner turned in the first good goaltending performance on either side in this series, though he also had plenty of support from his offense. He's allowed 10 goals on 91 shots through three games, but the Oilers have scored 17 times to establish a 2-1 series lead. Skinner continues to hold the starting job, and he'll presumably get the chance to try to strengthen Edmonton's position in Sunday's Game 4.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Tending twine Friday
Skinner will get the starting nod for Game 3 in Los Angeles on Friday, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports. Skinner has struggled so far this postseason, coughing up nine goals on 63 shots in two games. Including his final start of the regular season, he's gone 1-2-0 with an unsightly .829 save percentage over his last three outings. Skinner went 13-10-2 with an .894 save percentage and a 2.80 GAA in 27 road appearances during the regular season, so it'll be interesting to see how he'll perform in a hostile environment Friday.... Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Slated to face LA
Skinner is set to start at home against the Kings for Game 2 on Wednesday, per Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton. Skinner allowed four goals on 37 shots versus LA in Game 1 on Monday, but he got plenty of goal support en route to a 7-4 victory. He's typically done better against the Kings, posting a 4-1-0 record, 2.39 GAA and a .926 save percentage over five contests this year, including four regular-season outings. The Kings also left something to be desired offensively during the regular season, finishing the campaign in a tie for 16th offensively with 3.10 goals per contest.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Struggles in finale
Skinner allowed four goals on 13 shots before he was replaced by Calvin Pickard in the second period of Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Avalanche. Skinner was credited with the defeat. It certainly wasn't what Skinner had in mind for his final tune-up before the postseason -- the Avs scored four times in the first 10:17 of the opening period before Skinner was replaced by Pickard to start the second. The 25-year-old Skinner had won three of his previous four outings prior to Thursday, posting a .921 save percentage in that span. He'll wrap up the regular season at 36-16-5 with a .905 save percentage and 2.62 GAA. Skinner figures to be back between the pipes when the Oilers open the playoffs Monday at home versus the Kings.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Starting in Colorado
Skinner will guard the road goal versus the Avalanche on Thursday, per the NHL media site. Skinner has gone 3-1-1 with 10 goals allowed on 118 shots over five outings in April. He'll get one more tune-up versus the Avalanche in preparation for the playoffs. Skinner may have a tough time getting a win, as the Oilers' entire top line and first defense pairing is being rested for Thursday's game, while the Avalanche will have all of their key players in the lineup.... Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Tending twine Monday
Skinner will get the starting nod at home against the Sharks on Monday, per the NHL's media site. Skinner stopped 24 of 26 shots in a tough-luck loss to Vancouver in his last appearance. He's 4-1-1 over his last six outings with an impressive 2.00 GAA during that span. On the year, Skinner has gone 35-15-5 with a 2.58 GAA and a .907 save percentage through 57 games.... See More ... Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Loses to Canucks
Skinner stopped 24 of 26 shots in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Canucks. The third goal was an empty-netter. Skinner didn't get much help from his teammates in this contest, leading to his first regulation loss in six starts. He's been alternating games with Calvin Pickard since the end of March, and that seems likely to continue with the Oilers nearly locked into the No. 2 seed in the Pacific Division. Skinner is now 35-15-5 with a 2.58 GAA and a .907 save percentage over 57 outings. The Oilers' last home game of the regular season is Monday versus the Sharks before a road back-to-back with stops Wednesday in Arizona and Thursday in Colorado.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Set to face Golden Knights
Skinner is slated to start at home versus Vegas on Wednesday, per Oilers play-by-by announcer Jack Michaels. Skinner has a 34-14-5 record, 2.62 GAA and .906 save percentage in 55 outings in 2023-24. He saved 22 of 24 shots en route to a 6-2 win over Colorado in his last start Friday. Skinner has had mixed results against the Golden Knights this season, posting a 1-1-0 record while saving 46 of 52 shots (.885 save percentage) across two starts.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Gets win over Avalanche
Skinner stopped 21 of 23 shots in Friday's 6-2 win over the Avalanche. In a battle of two Western Conference scoring juggernauts, Skinner was able to find a bit more success than Alexandar Georgiev. This wasn't a gem from Skinner by any means, but he settled in after allowing a pair of first-period tallies. The 25-year-old netminder has won four of his last six games, allowing 17 goals over that span. He's now at 34-14-5 with a 2.54 GAA and a .906 save percentage through 55 appearances. The Oilers are back in action at Calgary on Saturday, a game that will likely see Calvin Pickard between the pipes.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Defending crease against Kings
Skinner will be in goal versus Los Angeles at home Thursday, Tony Brar of Oilers TV reports. Skinner has given up three or more goals in each of his last four outings but he still managed to secure a 2-1-1 record over that stretch. With a supporting cast that includes world-class center Connor McDavid, the 25-year-old Skinner should be able to continue to get by without having to be perfect. Simply good enough should do for the Edmonton native Skinner to keep collecting wins.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Making road start
Skinner will defend the blue paint on the road against the Jets on Tuesday, Mark Spector of Sportsnet reports. Skinner struggled in his last start Saturday versus Toronto, surrendering five goals on just 23 shots before being replaced by Calvin Pickard for the third period of the eventual 6-3 loss. Skinner was credited with the defeat. He'll try to get back on track in a road matchup with a slumping Winnipeg squad that's lost three straight games.... See More ... See Less
